Today was a pretty good day for Jason, and a rather unusual one for me. One of the ideas that has been talked about is having the Marines transport Jason to his daily appointments, both to and from the hospital. This is to allow me some free time, and even a chance to possibly go out and once again find employment (I have a few years left before retirement, and quite frankly I enjoy doing my job - IT project management). Well, today was the first day of this new routine, and it worked great for Jason; and, it felt a little strange for me. For right now I chase them to the Naval Hospital and back again, and I still spend the most of the day with him, but it just felt a little strange.

Jason's appointments were without any special updates, other than all is going well, and they want to see him back next week. Actually, as he regains his lead on the healing part, and his wounds are once again cooperating as they should, he will be having several appointments every week with OT and PT. For now though he will be going in only a few times this week and next week.

Otherwise, not much to report on for today. We'll probably go shopping tomorrow, as we're running low on some food, but that's about all. Not until his I.V. treatments are all done will he be able to venture out for a movie or something like that. Thanks, for all your continued support and prayers.

I know I haven't been keeping up with the blog and posting as often as I said I would, but I guess that's what happens when the days really do start to seem more normal, and don't feel like there is much to update about. Then when there is something exciting going on, by the time I can get to the blog I'm pretty well worn out for the day and then I'm slow to get to it afterward. Well, I will continue to provide updates, as I can and we'll just have to see where it takes us. Jason's sled hockey season is over and he had a great time with it. He was not able to go to the final tournament, in Chicago, due to travel challenges. First challenge was simply getting there - there really isn't any way to get there, that doesn't simply totally wear him out, and then he needs the next day to recover. Again, I have no reasonable excuse other than to say I got side tracked. On the last post I mentioned that Jason had gotten injured, while playing in the hockey tournament. Well, as it turned out it was a more serious injury than either of us had suspected. The outcome was that he lost some soft tissue and a section of his pelvic bone was exposed (about the size of a quarter) and he is now required to have a wound-vac so that it can heal properly. This means that he has to spend most of his time in bed and can only be up in his chair for no more than 20 minutes at a time, and that followed by hours of rest time. The rest time is for the injury, and not necessarily for Jason, as he isn't tired. As you can imagine, he gets very board with this "life style" and wants to get up and go do something. We've been going in to wound-care frequently, once or twice each week, and they keep telling us, "...we'll take a look at it next week, to see what happens next.&quo

Happy St. Patty's Day!

To day was a good day for Jason, as they removed the breathing tube from his mouth and throat, and his medications and pain meds were lowered. All this lead to him being able to begin talking to us, and have visitors, other than from family. On top of that, Bridgette came with the girls today (she went a short time ago to go pick them up), so he'll be able to see and speak with them as well. Of course tomorrow is Friday, and he is scheduled for another surgery (I'll talk more about that later) so we will need to go visit with him early in the morning, and then later tomorrow we will be able to visit with him again. He was visited by a bunch of different doctors with all of them asking him the same basic questions of, "How are you feeling? Where do you have pain? Can you tell me where you are?" etc., etc. Then came the psychiatrist, who wanted to be sure of his mental abilities and neurological issues.
