A very interesting day indeed.
I woke up at 04:00 and went down to check on Jason, since I wasn't comfortable that I really can't hear him very well, up in our room. It is also a concern because of the wound vacs, and I am not pleased at how they have been performing. Actually, Jason calls me, via the cell phone, if he really needs to get in touch, so I am never more than about 30 seconds away. Anyway, I went down and sure enough a couple of problems were starting to show. I reset the vacs and it seemed like they were working again, so I went back up to try to get back to sleep, at least for a little while.
I was back down at about 07:00, and again the vacs were not working correctly, only this time they would not recover/reset correctly. I spent several minutes working on it and finally called in to the hospital. I spoke with one of their corpsmen, who knows the vacs and we trouble shoot as well as we could. I told him what steps I had already done and he finally said he would be contacting the doctors. About 45 minutes later one of them did call me, and we went over the steps again and he said he would give me a call back, after he checked on what is available. In the mean time I went and made some oatmeal, and the three of us had that for breakfast. Because we needed to take care of a few things, and some groceries were needed, Linda went off to the store and while she was gone it was decided to get Jason to the hospital, so that the wound vacs could be looked at, and possibly replaced. Timing was definitely on our side, as Linda came back to the house about 10 minutes ahead of the ambulance. It was now getting later in the morning so she put together a couple of sandwiches for us and we headed off for Balboa.
We were at the hospital (not the ER this time, as the doctors didn't want us to get tangled up in the red tape, so we went straight to 5W in the main hospital). It wasn't very long before people were coming in to help, and the doctors came in to check out the vacs and their placement on Jason. They decided that replacement was the right thing to do, so we spent the next seven hours working with different people and doctors and finally got everything the way they wanted. It was a busy day in the hospital, and that impacted how the doctors would be able to work with us, though we never felt like we were being ignored. The same guys that took Jason to the hospital, were the ones who picked him back up to get him home. Once the work on the vacs was complete, I called the ambulance and soon we were on our way. Linda had spent those same seven hours working on the house, and taking care of things to make it better for all of us. It is great having her here.
Jason is now back in his bed, and Gracie was sure glad to see him. We decided to have her stay at home, and that made it easier to have the team work on him at the hospital. We are still set to come back in on Monday, for a follow up, and the good news is that it will be more of a regular appointment. This should help to make it a shorter visit this time. Also, it will be the third time to have the vac placed on Jason, so that should go a little faster as well. Thank you, for all the continued prayers, and support. Take care and stay positive.

Glad you got the vac situation taken care of. Hope you all get more sleep tonight!
ReplyDeleteThese words give such great comfort! Praying!
Romans 8:15-18 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Comforting knowing that the Holy Ghost is praying for you with groanings that can't be uttered!
ReplyDeleteRomans 8:26-28 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
