We got back from Colorado, and doing our best to get back into our normal way of life. Of course that implies we have a normal way of life, and for the most part, that's true. Its just that our normal probably isn't the same as your normal. Jason had some specific things he's wanted to do around the house, particularly with his chickens, and then on top of that the filter system on his fish tank has decided to stop working. The dogs both needed to get to the groomer, and the house, itself needed some attention (Linda and I are constantly cleaning up after the animals, yet we just can't seem to keep everything as clean sas we'd like it). Then there is the garden...
The garden is doing great, despite the water problems. We have an irrigation system and it has failed twice. Fortunately, the failures have been caught, and the plants were without water for only a day or two, and nothing died. Some of the produce was impacted, but only some. We were able to harvest a bunch of tomatoes and zucchini, and the pumpkins are even starting to look pretty good. One of the things I've noticed is that the pumpkins require a great deal more water than even the tomatoes. Now if we can just get the strawberries to start producing.
We all went to go see Dunkirk yesterday, and we all enjoyed the movie. It wasn't done in the way that either Linda or I expected, though we still thought it was worth seeing. From a historical perspective it did a great job of showing some of the sacrifices some of the guys made, and even how the civilian population jumped in when the need was present. Anyway, I can recommend the movie, just be prepared to jump around a bit, and then have it all tied together at the end.
This weekend, Linda and I are headed for Livermore, and will be going up to visit with some friends - and family - George will be coming back down with me, after the visit, while Linda heads off to New York. She will be going as a part of the Blue Star Mothers, and they are having a convention to commemorate their 75th year. We are also going to be going to a Neil Diamond Concert, courtesy of Lynn and Max (I didn't ask them about putting them in the blog, so I'll not use their last name). This is really cool, as Lynn and Linda are both major fans of Mr. Diamond.
Jason has been using the new prosthetic more and I have seen improvement with the wounds. I am hopeful that the improvements will continue and that perhaps we can get to a point of them being closed. As well, the other support system, that came out of the efforts of the Cal Poly team (Quality of Life Plus Program) has had some improvements made and Jason should be able to use that system more frequently. It provides him with greater flexibility, so that he can do more around the house, without the use of the wearable. Both systems together provide a better living environment and help to make Jason feel a little more normal. Thanks, for all the continued support and prayers. Take care and stay positive.

It sounds like your garden is doing better than mine! No pumpkins for me, unfortunately. Neil Diamond is playing in Sacramento on Wednesday and I am so looking forward to going!
