September 28-29, 2016
I'm dating it 28-29 because we got home at almost midnight and I was just too tired to post. Actually the dogs were good to us and let us sleep through the night, and now we're feeling much better, ourselves. Jason is continuing to improve and there is to be another discussion with the doctors this morning, though Linda and I won't be there - - - actually I think the discussion has already taken place, or is in the process right now.
Jason has been on an intense regimen of antibiotics and his white cell count is just about back to where they want it. Sorry, I don't have the numbers, just that it is back down. I know he is getting anxious to get back home, so he can get on with his life, and maybe even get out and do a few new things. We got to meet with their Wound Care Nurse (Lt.Cmdr Pickman) and she and I discussed a bunch of different things. She has 25 years with the Navy, and a bunch of that as a Wound Care Specialist. She was able to show me a couple of new steps in treating his skin area, as well as simply the taking care of his wounds. Fortunately we have plenty of supplies here at the house because they don't have much at the Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton. She has only been at the hospital for a few weeks and is a bit frustrated with the lack of supplies and was very pleased with what we brought with us. Funny thing is, Linda went in to pack up some supplies, prior to going and grabbed a couple of things I would have thought were not needed. As it turned out they were and Lt. Cmdr Pickman was very happy to see them. Anyway, bottom line, Jason's wounds are improving, overall, and we are very hopeful with all that is going on. One of the best things that happened yesterday was that Jason was able to get a shower in. We, again fortunately, had a padded shower chair for him to use. The ones in the hospital are all fold down and hard, and Jason can't use them without experiencing pain. In the hospital's defense, they do admit they aren't really set up for patients like Jason, and Jason enjoyed the technology they have in each room - he could control everything from his bed.
Today we'll be heading over there in a little while and getting another update. Thank you, for all your continued support and prayers. Take care and stay positive.
