November 10, 2017

As most of you have probably figured out, I am not able to make it a consistent update schedule. There are Thursdays where I am just particularly tired, and then there are nights where I can't seem to get the network to remain stable enough to post. Even tonight was a bit of a challenge, but it seems okay now. Anyway, I will do my best to keep these things going, as long as the system allows me to post.

Jason is doing well, and his remaining wounds are all looking much better. the two smaller ones are now even smaller, with one of them just about gone and the other about the size of a thumb nail. The "bigger" of the three is shrinking down and getting to the point where everything can be covered with one 3 X 3 square. We go into Wound Care (Balboa) on a weekly basis (occasionally something else comes up and we change for that week, but usually it is Balboa).

Today was interesting in that TV Channel 2, out of Los Angeles came to the house to interview Jason and I to do a special for Veterans' Day. This is to go in conjunction with the Rams football game tomorrow, where Jason will be the honored guest of the Rams. We will be on the field and again cameras will be all around us. Rams seem to be doing pretty well this year so it should be a good game, as they play the Texans. We will be going up tomorrow and coming home on Sunday. This will give plenty of time for Jason to rest, in between travel and the game. We will be staying at the game, in the Owner's Box, so that should allow Jason a chance to lay down during the game.  Also, while there, we are supposed to be visited by the American Legion, of Los Angeles, and made honorary members. Linda and the girls are going to be with us so they get to see exactly what is going to happen, AND the girls will get to see another example of why their daddy is so special.

Along with Veterans' Day, we got to go to a barbeque at The Ability Center and do a little socializing and having a relaxed time. We saw Terry (the G.M.) and a few of the other employees there and got a chance to meet some of their other customers. One in particular, Andrew, is a retired WWII Marine who had also seen some action with the Korean conflict and Vietnam. He was great to talk to, as he also lives in Fallbrook and knows some of the same folks we know. We got some pictures taken, had some good food, and the girls enjoyed themselves with some activities and just running around.

Then next week comes and Jason and I head off to Minneapolis. We will be heading to go play in the first National Sled-hockey tournament, for this year. Jason is pretty stoked to be going and I expect that the play is going to be both a lot of fun as well as very tiring. Linda will be staying back for this trip and working on some of her projects. The Veterans Airlift Command is helping with the air transportation and Gary Sinise Foundation is helping us with the handicap van, for Jason's travel needs. Jason and I will be getting home on the 19th and then we can get back to our regular life schedule... going into a holiday week.

This year's holidays and activities are going to be kind'a crazy, but then this is to be expected. I hope your holidays are shaping up to be fun and you get lots of special time with your family. Thank you, for all the continued support and prayers. Take care and stay positive.

  1. Glad things are going better. Hope you had a wonderful time at the Rams game! There aren't words to thank you for your service and all you've been through because of it.
What a special promise and comforting words! Praying right now!
