April 1, 2018 Happy Easter
Hello to one and all, and a Happy Easter to everyone. He is risen...
It has been a little while since my last entry, and a few things have happened. Jason has become much more proficient with his sled hockey and he really enjoys getting out on the ice. It is a feeling of being more equal, when everyone is on the sled, and he is slowly learning how to get around with more skill and effectiveness. Below you will see some pictures of when he was playing in a tournament, and in one of the tournament games he really got into some of the play - more so than he had prior. A basic description of that particular time was that the Ducks were playing a team that had a particularly rough player. This player was quite skilled, and knows how to cause trouble for the others (he is also the most penalized player on the other team, I'll just call him B). There was a loose puck and B was going for it, with two of his teammates right behind him. One of the Ducks was also right there and the three were heading hard on the one Duck. This is where Jason came into play. Jason was across the ice and I don't think anyone had ever seen him move so fast. Jason targeted B and the puck (you always go for the puck) and Jason did a "check" on him to free up the puck. His move worked perfectly, as Matt, the Duck, was able to get away with the puck and B and the other two were now in a pile up, with Jason basically on top of them. Everyone was cheering! Unfortunately the Ducks still did loose that game, but it was a lot of fun.
Today is Easter, and the day is a busy one. First we all got up and ready for church, and then while at church the girls were front singing with the other children. The one thing that really makes me like this church is the number of kids - we have bunches of them. My guess would be that we had close to 50 kids, all under 12, singing in the children's choir, and they sounded great. Linda's folks, Jason's grandparents, also known as Nana and Tata to the girls, were also with us. Right after church the women folk, including Stacy and Jackie, all went to the Grand Traditions for a brunch and an Easter Egg hunt. From what they sounded like it had to have been a fun time for the kids, for sure. While that was going on the guys all went back to the house and had breakfast, followed up by eggs being hidden. That way, once the ladies got home there was another egg hunt to be had. Sure enough, that's exactly what happened. I think Stacy found more eggs than Jackie, but not too many.
I'm sure there are many other things I can catch you all up on, like being invited by the LA Dodgers to one of their games, playing against the Giants (GO GIANTS!). I am just so very pleased by how the MLB teams all support us and each other. Yeah, they play to win, but for the most part is is all very high and positive sportsmanship. Maybe that's why baseball is my favorite sport. Jason is also working to get new equipment for his sled hockey, and the girls are both doing very well with their martial arts training, and advancing in their belts. All-in-all, things are going well and we're all doing quite well. thank you, for all the continued support and prayers. Take care and stay positive.
