Happy St. Patrick's Day 2019

Today is eight years since Jason came out of the induced coma and he has been on a overall positive trail ever since. There have been a few set backs and the expected twists and turns, but overall he is doing pretty well. The last post talk about the Colorado Hockey Tournament, and it was a fun and challenging event. The down side was that two of the players on the Ducks, Jason's team, were injured and one of those two was Jason.

The first one was the more serious injury, as Sarah, the team captain, was hit in the throat by a puck, at close rang and it took her out of the tournament. Her larynx was hit and it totally knock her out, for a few seconds. Fortunately her husband, Matt, was there and he was able to help her to a moderate level of recovery and then took her to the hospital. She seems to have made a full recovery now and will be skating again as soon as she can get to the ice. The second injury, Jason's, was when he fell over, while making a fast turn, and slid right into the wall, skates first. The two factors on this was that he was moving pretty fast, and the initial shock went right up is back. He apparently bruised something, and it was very uncomfortable for him, but he continued to skate until the tournament was over. When we got home I took him to Balboa where he was examined and they found nothing. He was looked at by a couple of specialists and had both an Xray and CT scan done. Nothing was found and so they simply told him to stay off it for a few days. The obvious injuries I could see, on his bottom, have been healing up nicely, and his level of discomfort has gone down considerably. That's all the good news... the not so good is that he has not worn the Wearable for several days now, so we really don't know if there are any other problems we'll have to deal with, right now.

We have another hockey tournament coming up in April, next month, so we'll be headed that way in a matter of a few weeks. All is looking good right now, so we're sticking to the schedule. Just prior to that journey he will be speaking at another symposium on the Midway, ship, in San Diego. The museum has asked us to be there so they can learn more about the medical recovery program, that Jason has been a part of, for the past few year (sorry, I don't know the official name right now- I'll get it for the next post). The event takes place on March 28, on board the aircraft carrier museum. They are expecting about 400 to 500 guests so it should be pretty good.

Everybody is doing well, otherwise and we're all keeping pretty busy. I did finally get out on the bike and rode a short 10+ mile ride, and hope that the weather will cooperate and I'll start to get more rides in again. Take care and stay positive.
