Today was a good day for appointments, in that Jason only had the one with the dermatology folks, and then there was a quick visit with urology (it wasn't an appointment though). When we got to the Naval Base we took the girls over to the day care center and dropped them off. Stacy loves going there, and especially likes Ms. Nancy. I don't know if Jackie has a favorite because she gets along with just about everybody and goes to just about everybody - as long as Grandpa isn't around. If I'm around she wants to be with me, but hey, she's got good taste in people... ;-)

Anyway, while Jason was at his appointment I received an email and it said both Stacy and Jackie would now be able to go to the CDC (Child Development Center) for day care, located right there on the Naval Base. My first reaction was excitement and then concern because Jackie is already enrolled at the Wade Parker CDC, that's close to the house. Besides, Jason has already paid for the first half of the month of May at Wade Parker, and I'm concerned that things will get messed up in the paper work. We'll just need to make sure that all the paper work gets processed correctly, so that no mistakes are made. It will be good to have the girls together, and to have them at the Naval Base is just an extra plus for us.

I was contacted by the New York Times, because they are doing a story on Victor Juhasz, the artist who drew and painted Jason, while he was at Bethesda. She will be talking with us on Wednesday, via telephone or Skype, and I'm guessing it will be about 30 minutes or so. I'm hoping that it helps Victor is some way, since he did so much for Jason with the drawings and paintings.

I've had a couple of interrupts while trying to get this post done, with one of those being from Jackie. Sometimes she will wake, crying, and I just need to take her in to Daddy and he calms her down. I don't particularly like running up and down the stairs this time of night, but it does make me feel good when Jason is capable of calming his children down, and that also means I'll probably get a good nights sleep... ;-)

    Awww, you guys are so good! It's so wonderful that Jason is so nurturing with his little Jackie. Hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow! I also hope the Giants have a better game tomorrow, the Bum is pitching, should be better.

10 Alive Day (10 Years after the blast)

 Wow! It has been 10 years today, that Jason was injured and despite all the expectations from the medical folks, he's still alive and as positive and active as ever. Most of you are aware that he is into sled-hockey and that we haven't been able to get out and play for over a year now. There is a positive side to all this, though, as the timing of the shut downs and the length of the pandemic. It began just as Jason's team (the Ducks) was getting ready to go to the championship tournament, in Philadelphia, when everything was shut down. This meant that because they were defending champions they simply maintained the title. Then the following season was cancelled so the third year they have kept the title as well... trouble is that no- body wants to keep it that way. I know I haven't been keeping up with the blog and posting as often as I said I would, but I guess that's what happens when the days really do start to seem more normal, and don't feel like there is much to update about. Then when there is something exciting going on, by the time I can get to the blog I'm pretty well worn out for the day and then I'm slow to get to it afterward. Well, I will continue to provide updates, as I can and we'll just have to see where it takes us. Jason's sled hockey season is over and he had a great time with it. He was not able to go to the final tournament, in Chicago, due to travel challenges. First challenge was simply getting there - there really isn't any way to get there, that doesn't simply totally wear him out, and then he needs the next day to recover. Again, I have no reasonable excuse other than to say I got side tracked. On the last post I mentioned that Jason had gotten injured, while playing in the hockey tournament. Well, as it turned out it was a more serious injury than either of us had suspected. The outcome was that he lost some soft tissue and a section of his pelvic bone was exposed (about the size of a quarter) and he is now required to have a wound-vac so that it can heal properly. This means that he has to spend most of his time in bed and can only be up in his chair for no more than 20 minutes at a time, and that followed by hours of rest time. The rest time is for the injury, and not necessarily for Jason, as he isn't tired. As you can imagine, he gets very board with this "life style" and wants to get up and go do something.
