A step back - 03/23/2011

Jason went through surgery today, and physically the surgery was a success and they were able to get some closing of the wounds accomplished. They took the feeding tube out and allowed him to begin eating whatever he wants, and he has been drinking for a few days now (I brought in a case of pink lemonade today - just for him). All of this sounds good, and it is, but his mental attitude dropped a bit today, and you can really see it in him. David, his brother, and I were able to visit with him for a short while and then he asked to be left alone. David put together a sign that was stuck on his door that said only medical personnel were to come in to his room. A short while later Bridgette, his wife, came to visit and Jason asked her to leave. He is needing to get his thoughts together and come to grips with how his life is going to be, going forward.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, and do your best to provide him strength, as right now is when he is needing it most. Thank you, for all the prayers so far, I do believe it has helped.

  1. Even though he wants to be left alone... he is not alone. All our prayers are surrounding him holding him as he is in his own grief. I would suppose losing ones legs is similar to the grief process of losing a person you love. Could be a step back but maybe a step forward in the grief process???? All our love and prayers.... everyday!!!

  2. Not simple- hugs to all of you as you navigate this new territory with Jason...I can only imagine the need to come to grips with his new situation. I have never known Jason to be a slacker in any task, so I suspect he will work on this one with determination and strength.

  3. Praying for Jason! I want him to know that it's okay to feel emotions, especially now. He needs time to think so he can move forward and heal. He needs to make the decision to get up and fight this when the time is right.
I believe that he will be fine, he is a Marine! I see him doing over and above what a normal person would do, don't you? GOD bless Jason!!!

  4. It sounds like he is right where he needs to be. The doctor made sure his middle finger still worked for a reason. More prayers coming his way.

  5. God has a plan for Jason. HE is in control of every step, milestone, and decision. I pray for strength, determination, understanding and will to push towards that plan.

Tell Linda that I love and miss her.

    Everyday in my thoughts,
    Vicki

  9. Last night at LOGOS, the children and youth made cards for Jason. Hopefully they'll get there soon.

At dinner, each table had a pitcher of lemonade which was surprising since we normally don't have lemonade for dinner and the person who put it out was not aware of Jason's fondness for lemonade. I shared with the kids the story of Jason asking for lemonade and how I'll never be able to drink lemonade again without thinking of Jason and how strong and courageous he is.

It amazes me that God can use something as simple as lemonade to show that he is with Jason and all of us as we pray for him. All my prayers for Jason and the entire Ross clan.
