Well, for all those wondering about the fires down here in San Diego, they are just about all under control and soon to be out. Of course there will probably be other fires through the summer, so don't rest on your comfort zone, too much.

Jason had an early appointment with his new recovery care coordinator here at Balboa, and it was nice getting a chance to speak with her. A little later in the day I also received a call from Shane C. our Federal Recovery Care Coordinator, who will be monitoring Jason and his progress for the rest of Jason's military career and then well into his civilian life. As Shane put it, "As long as I (Shane) am still working with the VA I will be Jason's Recovery Care Coordinator. Jason could move to another state and I would still be his Coordinator." This actually made me feel much better, knowing that there is going to be that continuity.

The other appointment that Jason had was with Wound Care, and they were happy with the progress that has been made, yet still concerned with the "newer" areas of concern. Jason's healing is again in the slow stage and it is probably going to take several weeks before everything is taken care of. In the mean time I will be changing his dressings on a regular basis and doing my best to keep up with his schedule.

About the only down thing that happened today was that Linda became a little ill with something like the stomach flu, or something else. She isn't running much of a fever, so we're not too concerned with how it might affect Jason, its just that she was supposed to be heading to New York tomorrow and now that has been cancelled. We talked it over and thought that it would not be a good idea to be traveling when she is feeling so poorly. The trip to New York was through the Wounded Warrior Project, where they were sending her to a writer's camp, that was supposed to help Linda, and the other women, to better express their ideas in the form of the written word. Linda was looking forward to it, but now it will just have to wait, until the next opportunity.

The rest of the day was simply relaxed, and hanging around the house. We were supposed to be going up to pick up our "new" van (it is a 1996 model, so "new" is a matter of perspective). We were going to be going with the Marines, but now it looks like we will be doing it in the morning, tomorrow. Sometimes things happen, so the best plan is to remain flexible. Thank you, for all the continued support and prayers. Take care and stay positive.

  1. So sorry that Linda had to miss such a great opportunity. If it was anything but stomach....
The Lord will be with you always. Praying!
Deuteronomy 31:6, 8 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. (8) And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
