Well, today was an interesting day. The good news is that there is some effort to do reduction in his medications. The bad news is that there is some effort to do reduction in his medications. Jason has been on some of the pain meds for so long there is a bit of a concern that there may be some withdrawal affect, as they reduce the medication. On the other side though, is that there is concern that he might do some damage to his kidneys and liver if he continues to take the medication at the current levels. It is one of those things that you have to trust the medical team, and hope that they know what they are doing. Of course I also have to keep my eyes on Jason and watch for any changes.

Well, just as I am typing this he started to have some issues. Things strong enough that I am going to be taking him to the emergency room. Not because its an emergency, just because there is no other place to go, to find out what is going on. I'll try to post more a little later tonight.

  1. George- Have they talked with you and Jason about a plan for pain med reduction? It has to be done slowly...there could indeed be withdrawl issues. Are they seeing any worrisome kidney or liver issues right now? Sure hope not...love you both and hope that they are equiping Jason to use all the ancillary pain relief things as well....TENS units, biofeedback, music, etc...anything that is legal and helps is fair game. Puppies might well be especially good.

  2. I am praying for Jason. The withdrawl symptoms from the medications could make him feel very ill, sweat, nausea, etc. I think he is so brave. They must have a pain management center at the hospital. Please keep us posted so we don't worry ourselves silly.

Hange in there George and Jason.

    Praying for you hard,

  3. Praying that they can take it slowly enough that any withdrawal is minimal.
Life can be overwhelming at times, but the victory is ours through Christ! Put your trust in Him! Praying!
1 Corinthians 15:54-57 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  4. Pain management is a tough thing, you may need to go to a chronic pain specialist to help with the pain management.

    Our prayers are with you.

  5. Hi Jason - love reading about you getting a dog. Wondering how that works while he is being trained, does he live you all the time or is he back and forth with the person training him? George I know you are a great medicine for Jason! You have good intuition and are staying right on top of it always, best of luck to you both today, hope you are not at the ER long.

  6. I can't imagine the pain that Jason must feel- it is something I simply cannot fathom. Pain management helped me along with a TENS device- be careful with the TENS though. I got burned by it due to nerve damage.
The Students send their love & support as always! Hoping that everything is okay and that whatever issues are occuring that the docs will get a handle on it ASAP.
As always, we hope this finds you in good spirits and full of hope.
