Happy Birthday! Jason turned 30 years old today, and I'm looking forward to the next 30+. Of course that would put me over 90, so perhaps I'm stretching things a bit... or not. I meant to go for a long bike ride today - about 30 miles - but due to some coordination efforts, and me not wanting to get up this morning, it was put off. I'll have to wait a couple of days before the opportunity comes along again. Besides, it is supposed to be warmer tomorrow, and I'm not sure I want to ride in the heat.

The girls are both doing well, as is Linda. Jason kicked back for a good portion of the day, and in general it has been a very nice birthday for Jason. We had a little party at the end of the day, and we all had some cake (or at least a cup cake). Jason likes chocolate cake and I don't, so I had a nice little white cup cake. Linda was being her normal creative self, and had a 2 and a 9 candle on the cake, with a separate solitary candle placed in front of the two numbers. I thought it was a cute way to indicate 30.

The girls got their baths, and insisted on Grandpa telling them a story, so after Grandma got them in bed I took over. I think it is because when I tell them the story I will shake the bed for earth quakes and stuff like that. My stories are very active...;-) Anyway, they're both asleep by now, and I am just finishing up the blog. Thank you, for all your continued support and all the prayers, take care and stay positive.

I know I haven't been keeping up with the blog and posting as often as I said I would, but I guess that's what happens when the days really do start to seem more normal, and don't feel like there is much to update about. Then when there is something exciting going on, by the time I can get to the blog I'm pretty well worn out for the day and then I'm slow to get to it afterward. Well, I will continue to provide updates, as I can and we'll just have to see where it takes us. Jason's sled hockey season is over and he had a great time with it. He was not able to go to the final tournament, in Chicago, due to travel challenges. First challenge was simply getting there - there really isn't any way to get there, that doesn't simply totally wear him out, and then he needs the next day to recover. We think we may have figured out a way around this, though it actually means more travel time, rather than recovery time. We have found a van that can provide a ...

Again, I have no reasonable excuse other than to say I got side tracked. On the last post I mentioned that Jason had gotten injured, while playing in the hockey tournament. Well, as it turned out it was a more serious injury than either of us had suspected. The outcome was that he lost some soft tissue and a section of his pelvic bone was exposed (about the size of a quarter) and he is now required to have a wound-vac so that it can heal properly. This means that he has to spend most of his time in bed and can only be up in his chair for no more than 20 minutes at a time, and that followed by hours of rest time. The rest time is for the injury, and not necessarily for Jason, as he isn't tired. As you can imagine, he gets very board with this "life style" and wants to get up and go do something. We've been going in to wound-care frequently, once or twice each week, and they keep telling us, "...we'll take a look at it next week, to see what happens next....

Happy St. Patty's Day!

To day was a good day for Jason, as they removed the breathing tube from his mouth and throat, and his medications and pain meds were lowered. All this lead to him being able to begin talking to us, and have visitors, other than from family. On top of that, Bridgette came with the girls today (she went a short time ago to go pick them up), so he'll be able to see and speak with them as well. Of course tomorrow is Friday, and he is scheduled for another surgery (I'll talk more about that later) so we will need to go visit with him early in the morning, and then later tomorrow we will be able to visit with him again. He was visited by a bunch of different doctors with all of them asking him the same basic questions of, "How are you feeling? Where do you have pain? Can you tell me where you are?" etc., etc. Then came the psychiatrist, who wanted to be sure of his mental abilities and neurological issues.
