Today was an amazingly wet day. We had thunderstorms and a bunch of lightening, with probably close to 2 inches of rain - cause some flooding, but not too much. The down side was that the power was knocked off for probably 10 hours. No loss of food, as we kept the refrigerator and freezer closed for the majority of the day. The rain was so good to see, just wish it had been high up in the hills, where it could have flowed into the reservoirs.

The day started with listening to thunder and watching lightening. Shortly after getting up, about 06:00, this morning, the power went out. We still managed to get a nice breakfast together, Cheerios, and then about 08:00, Linda and I went to meet Loretta and Ivona , from Blue Star Mothers. We were all going to the San Diego Stand Down. This event is for helping vets who have fallen out of society, due to various challenges, to get back on their feet and start feeling better about themselves.  This was a wonderful experience for me, and I think Linda too, as we learned about some of the things being made available to these people, and just seeing so many of them there.

The only part that was a little difficult was the weather. The rain started again, at about noon and really got going. We went and had lunch with Loretta and Ivona, and then headed on back home. Jason was still home and we wanted to be sure he was dong alright. When we got home we found out that the power had actually come back on for a couple hours and as Jason was attempting to fix himself some lunch when it went out again. We helped him fix his lunch and then started looking at some of the other things around the house. I had received a package from LongView, where I will be startin work on Monday. It was my new laptop and some other things, so to say the least, I'm pretty happy about how this is playing out.

This was Kojak's first experience with rain, so he was having a wonderful time playing in the backyard, when he decided to come back in to the house. He was a muddy mess and proceeded to get mud everywhere. I had laid down to take a nap, so I missed most of it, and Linda did all the work cleaning things up and helping Jason get Kojak cleaned up.

This evening, Linda, Jason and I went up to see Huge and Julie Keener, friends from Livermore; who came down to take care of some personal issues and to visit. We met up with them and went over to see the Jason's new house, and then go have some dinner. It was a wonderful visit and we were able to go through the entire house. As it was, Mike, from MLA Construction, showed up a few minutes after we got there, and so it was an even better visit. Mike, and his wife (she was there also) walked around and were right there to answer questions. The house really looks great, and about the only things left to do are some of the electronics that help to make this a Smart Home.

We went to dinner after the house visit, and Jason requested that we go to Chinese, and so we did. I think it was the second or third time for us to have eaten at this restaurant near Jason's new home, and we were all very pleased. The drive home was uneventful, just the way I like them. It was good seeing Huge and Julie, and visiting about some of the things going on back up in Livermore. We dropped them off at their hotel and then drove on back to the house here. The power has been restored and so Linda is getting some of the things done, that need power, and I got to work on my email and this blog. Thank you, for all the continued support and prayers. Take care and stay positive.

  1. May your roots go down deep into the Lord and His Word. Praying!
Jeremiah 17:7-8 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
