Okay, we've had a day to unwind a bit and to reflect on the Salute To The Troops break we were honored with. There is so much to share and yet so little vocabulary to be able to express what took place, as well as the gratitude we feel for allowing us to be a part of the wonderful celebration. I would have liked to have seen The Gary Sinise Foundation receive a little more recognition, but I will have to be satisfied with what they did receive. Gary did get to be up on stage and had the opportunity to speak with the crowd, as well as his Fremont Street performance (It was awesome, by the way). The USO, American Airlines and MGM Grand Properties (in this case we stayed at the Mirage) all know how to put things together, and we were all treated well, and with respect. Everything was paid for, except for the couple of souvenirs we bought for the girls, from the Terry Fador show (we bought them turtle puppets). The accommodations were very good, except for the shower in Jason's room - apparently they don't have roll-in showers so with each shower Jason took there ended up water on the floor. Given the chance, we'll go again - pictures will be posted below for you to enjoy.

Today started out with the girls coming up and jumping in bed with Grandma and Grandpa. I guess they both woke up early and wanted to see Grandma (Linda), since they don't get that much time with her. We finally had them get back down stairs so we could get cleaned up and dressed and then Grandma went down stairs to get them breakfast. Actually, I am glad they got up early (06:00) because Linda had to still pack, as she had to go back home today, and this allowed her to spend a little more time with them. Jason and I did our best to run our regular type routine for getting ready and then we all got in the van to go to the base for Jason's appointments. Linda stayed home and packed.

As it turned out, it was Jason was able to get a few things out of the way and even make a change on some of the medical supplies being sent to the house. I hope the change goes through, as it will really make things much easier for us. After we were done at the base we came back to the house and picked up Linda and we went to a movie. Jason wanted to take us to see the new Thor: The Dark World, and Linda always seems  to not be able to go - today she was able to go with us. The movie was entertaining and had some cool special affects; as well as some pretty funny parts, along with the points of drama and action. Then finally there was the teaser at the end of the movie, and then it was all over. We had to get moving, since Linda needed to finish her packing and then get to the airport.

Linda did make her flight, and I was contacted to let me know she got home alright. The bright part was knowing that she will be back down in a matter of just a little over a week. The holidays are probably the most difficult for the two of us (Linda and I) because we have always been family centered and both Thanksgiving and Christmas are big family holidays, more so than the others. Anyway, we will get to see each other and it will be a time for family. Thank you, for all the support and prayers being sent our way. Take care and stay positive - Please enjoy the pictures...

  1. What amazing photos! No wonder you couldn't find words to describe it all! And the Pawn Star guys, too! The best thing about the pics...well there are two best things: all the smiles, and you and Linda being together!
Know that you're always in my prayers.
Deuteronomy 31:6, 8 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. (8) And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
