Happy Father's Day to one and all. It has been a very nice and happy "holiday" for us, and the girls got to go to the park.
We got up a little on the early side, about 07:15, but considering when we typically get up on a weekday, that was still sleeping in a bit. The girls helped me with the breakfast and then we just did a few lazy things around the house. The girls were very excited about Father's Day, though I don't think either of them really knew what it was about, other than it wasn't Daddy's birthday, yet it was his special day. We had lasagna for lunch (yes, left overs from last night) and Stacy surprised me by eating about the same amount as I did. She definitely likes lasagna. After lunch they went down for a nap, and because they knew we were going to be headed over to Mr. Netto's and then the park, it was quite easy.
Earlier in the day Sean, our youngest son, called to wish me a Happy Father's Day, and we got to chat for a few minutes. He even had time to talk with the girls. Then after the girls went down for their nap, David, Jason's older brother called and did the same, only no talking with the girls. I did some catch up on my email and other things, and then the girls got up, or I should say I got them up. I also got a chance to speak with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law (I guess everybody else was sleeping), and it was great being able to do a little catching up with them. Linda did wake up a little later and gave me a call, so I was able to speak with her. They are all up visiting with Linda's parents, for Father's Day.
It was well after 14:00 (2:00pm) and we didn't want to wait too long to get over to Anthony's place. We finally pulled out of the driveway at about 15:00 (3:00pm). One of the first things we did was to head on over to the park, and the girls headed straight for the swings. Actually that didn't last too long, and then they were up on the climbing structure. I didn't take any pictures this time, as I left the camera back at Anthony's and probably wouldn't have had much time to snap shots anyway. Stacy has become quite skilled at climbing on everything and Jackie has no fear. This meant that I kept an eye on Stacy and followed Jackie everywhere she went. There was one thing that I thought was particularly cute, and that was this ladder like structure where Jackie was doing her best to climb, but alas her legs just weren't long enough to navigate the rungs. She seemed satisfied when I tried to explain this to her, but then a short while later she was over at it again... the determined type.
We, had some grilled burgers at Anthony's and they were good, as usual. It was amazing watching Stacy put away her burger, and then Jackie not really sure on how to handle hers. The saying goes, "It takes a village to raise a child." In this case we were all involved in trying to keep Jackie from dropping her food on the ground and being able to actually consume the food, as opposed to wearing it. We left shortly after dinner and then I took the girls up for their bath. After that we went back down stairs and got ready for bed. They got their pj's on and both ran to tell Daddy good night. This took about another 10 minutes, and involves Jason having to hold the girls, once I hand them up to him. They then went back to their room where Papa (me) told them the story about Peter Pan, and where it all started. Stacy was so into the story that when I was done she asked me to tell it again. If I hadn't had so much to do I probably would have, but it was getting late and there were things to do. Thank you all, for all the continued prayers and support, and take care and stay positive.
