10 Alive Day (10 Years after the blast)

Today started with me going for an early bike ride (13.2 miles), and I was able to get back to the house is about an hour. I left the house at about 07:00 and rode over to Costco and then back again, though I did take a short break at Costco. It was actually quite nice, since most of the traffic was going in the other direction, on the way out and then on the way back traffic wasn't heavy anyway. One of the things that I don't like to get stuck behind is a train crossing, and when I was coming back I could see just that, a train was on the tracks and the crossing arms were down. It was about a half mile away, and by the time I got up to the crossing the arms lifted and I just kept going... it felt amazingly good.

When I came back into the house, one of the first things that Jason said was about how short a ride I had taken. I told him that I couldn't be gone too long, especially if he had that 09:00 appointment. I still needed some time to cool down and shower and get dressed. This was accomplished and we were on our way to the hospital and C5 for his appointments. Funny thing is, when we got up to his "first" appointment he found out that he didn't have one, and then remembered that he had cancelled it because the doctor wasn't going to be back until Monday (guess when the appointment is - yep, Monday). That was okay, we had a couple of other things to do so we headed over to C5 (PT). He spoke with Dawn and made sure the appoints with her were all in the right places and he had the latest updates.

After that we went over to the bank and then I went over to the VA. There happens to be an office over by Jason's bank, so that made it much easier. I finally went in to get my account moved back down here, from Palo Alto. I was pretty pleased with how easy it was to get done, since I really didn't know what I was doing, or how long it was going to take. I even got my first appointment set up for a physical. We then went on back home and Jason took a shower and I changed his dressings. His wounds are looking a little better right now, and I'm anxious to get the doctors to take a look as well. Perhaps we can leave the expander in for a little bit longer and Jason can get some benefit from it.

We had the stew I made yesterday, for dinner tonight, and it was pretty good. I meant to tell USA Tom, last night that I used some of his onions in the preparation, and they came out quite nicely - so thank you. Tomorrow we need to be up and out of the house a little earlier as he has formation, and is being awarded the Commendation Medal. I just wish he had had more time to prepare so that he might have been able to get a more appropriate uniform, and I think Jason feels the same way. We only knew about it a couple of days ago, and it takes weeks to get anything put together for Jason.
